Babeș-Bolyai University will host the international conference “Institutional Ethnography as Sociology for People. The work and legacy of Dorothy Smith”

Babeș-Bolyai University, through the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work will host the international conference “Institutional Ethnography as Sociology for People. The work and legacy of Dorothy Smith”, organized within the framework of the research project PNRR-I9, entitled “WHoSGreen – Without God, with responsibility. A Research Study on the secular Humanist movement’s pro-environment activism and how its members socialize the next generation to green responsibilities”, project director Dr. Tartari Morena, and which will take place on 18 and 19 April (h 9:30-17:30) in rooms 7 and 8 of the Faculty building in Dostoievski Street 34, Cluj-Napoca.

Dorothy Smith’s institutional ethnography is a theoretical and empirical investigation of the connections between local environments of everyday life, organisations and translocal (meso/macro) processes of administration and governance. This approach has great potential to bring people’s perspectives on these processes to the attention of policy and decision makers.

The event will host distinguished international researchers as keynote speakers and will provide a great opportunity for students and researchers from different fields (from social sciences to medicine) interested in learning about the great potential of this approach.

The conference will be hybrid (both in person and online). More details and registration links here:
