Babeș-Bolyai University starts the 2016-2017 academic year October 3, 2016, and opens its doors to 10,980 students enrolled in the first year of study, undergraduate level. The number of freshmen this year is up by 111 compared to last year. Among first year students 4,915 places are in full time, state funded education, of which 22 benefit from specially allocated places for Roma community representatives, 15 are students from the Republic of Moldova, and 4,499 were admitted on tuition. Another 1,551 students will attend courses in distance learning.
Babeș Bolyai University recorded in the last 4 years a continuous increase in both the number of candidates who have submitted applications for admission, and those who have confirmed their places both state funded and on tuition. Thus if in 2013 the number of enrolled students was 9,469, this year there are 10,980 first year undergraduate students attending Babeș-Bolyai University. Regarding the master’s programmes, graduate students have retained interest in the educational offer of UBB. Following the two admission sessions all 3,500 state funded places and over 450 places on tuition were filled.
