Assoc. Prof. Simona Ștefan and Prof. Daniel David, from the UBB Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, have been awarded the Ernest R. and Josephine R. Hilgard Award for Best Theoretical Paper by the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (https://www.sceh.us/) for their paper entitled Mindfulness in Therapy: A Critical Analysis, published in the 2020 International Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.
We currently live in a world where, due to the easy access to education and knowledge, people, even if not researchers, claim to be able to contribute to sciences this is all fine, up to a point. But if this process is not done rigorously and under expert supervision, there is also the illusion that anyone can contribute to science and in any manner, thus generating a pseudo-knowledge and fake news; this is very dangerous! Health is running so many risks from this viewpoint, considering how relevant it is for people, that pseudoscience is ever more active, in this case. Over time, we published papers where we defined scientific hypnotherapy from pseudoscientific hypnotherapy (performed for entertainment), and now it is time to mindful meditation; all of this occur within the context of a personalised evidence-based psychotherapy approach. WE are pleased that our paper drew the attention of world experts and most of professional society in the field working on evidence-based hypnosis, who have thus honoured us with the award named after some of the field’s titans – Prof. Ernest Hilgard (Stanford University), former president of the American Psychological Association, and Josephine Hilgard (Stanford Medical School), asserted the UBB scientists awarded by the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis.
