UBB students qualified in the finals for the Harvard case study competition

A team of 5 Master’s students from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration within Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca (UBB) qualified in the TOP10 finals for the Global Case Competition at Harvard (thecasecompetition.org), a global competition of case studies in business, organised by the University of Harvard.

The qualification stage was organised during 21st February and 13th March 2022, where over 150 student teams from the best universities across the world took part. The participant teams had to set up the financial foundation and strategic management for the acquisition of the British company Games Workshop by Bandai Namco, a Japanese multinational company specialising in creating video games. The competitors had to elaborate a solution in the form of a presentation of a maximum 100 slides. Based on the jury’s evaluation, the Cluj team from UBB has an excellent performance and managed to qualify for the TOP10 finals of the competition. This qualification is at the same time a historical performance – the first one where an Eastern European university qualifies for this competition’s finals.

The team of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration included students Barabási Tamás (Master’s in Business Management, 2nd year), Borsos András (Master’s in Financial Corporate Administration, 2nd year), Jakó Zsolt (Master’s in Financial Corporate Administration, 2nd year), Nagy Miriám (Master’s in Business Management, 2nd year) and Szép Hunor (Master’s in Financial Corporate Administration, 1st year).
